Prophets are God's Representatives on the Earth. We need them in this day and age as much or more than they were needed in the time of the Book of Mormon or the Bible.
God calls a man to be a mouthpiece upon the Earth. When a prophet speaks for God, it is as if God were speaking.
A prophet may come from various stations in life. A true prophet is always chosen by God and called through proper priesthood authority. If asked what you have learned from the lives and teachings of the prophets, what would be your answer?
Why do we need a living Prophet today? To continue to recieve revelaton for the present day To recieve God's will for us.
What can we do to follow and sustain the Prophet? Pray for them, Study the Scriptures. Study their words as Scriptures. Follow their inspired teachngs completely.
